Patricia founder of the Chicago firm, UrbanWorks, shares her reasons for deciding to start her own firm which include the leadership opportunities and flexibility she was able to have doing so.
“…women joining the profession are more prepared to understand and confront such gender biases and structural disadvantages at architecture firms. In many ways, their primary challenge will be fighting these battles in a much more public and less deferent way, while still navigating their way through male-dominated power structures on their way to becoming leaders.”
