August 8, 2018The Chicago Women in Architecture Foundation board and staff would like to thank our donors and the entire CWAF
community for your outstanding support during our recent fundraising challenge. We are pleased to announce that, in just
five months, we have met our goal, raising a total of $50,000 and doubling the size of the Gertrude Lempp Kerbis
Scholarship Fund. This is an important milestone for CWAF, and it will strengthen and sustain our scholarship program for
years to come. We would like to extend special thanks to the Kerbis family for creating this significant matching-gift
opportunity. Your support nourishes the budding careers of talented women architects.
About the Gertrude Lempp Kerbis Scholarship Fund Campaign
CWA founder Gertrude Lempp Kerbis made a transformative gift to Chicago Women in Architecture Foundation at the end of her life. Her generous contribution endowed the Gertrude Lempp Kerbis Scholarship Fund and allowed the Foundation to envision a new phase of growth and activity. In November of 2017, her family committed an additional $25,000 challenge gift to assist CWAF in leveraging additional funds toward the Scholarship Fund. Over forty individuals and architecture firms contributed to raise $25,000 in matching gifts between November, 2017 and March, 2018. Gert’s legacy continues to fuel the Foundation’s mission: to provide educational funding ensuring women’s influential place in the design and construction of the built environment without gender bias.
